The Under 30s pipped the Over 30s to win the annual Boxing Day match. With both teams fielding squads of approx 20 players an interesting game was on!

One or two players held their hands up for 1st XV selection showing their wide range of skills. The slick pairing of Andy Pemberton and the speedy Richard Smith at halfback proved a fruitful combination. The young second row, Eddie Spibey, also scored a late try for the U30s and actually got to use his scrum cap in a scrum! it was only in the final minutes that the game was decided for the U30s. The pin point kicking of Rich Smith must surely give food for thought for the 1st XV Head Coach as Rich demonstrated his memorable kicking armoury with his kicking out of hand and drop kicks being distributed all over the pitch! Joe Gammage never stood a chance as the opposing 10 as the Pemberton/Smith combination mesmerised the Under 30 team. Perhaps the legs tired towards the end but a memorable match was played in great spirit and mainly under water but it was certainly enjoyed by both players and spectators alike!
Put in your diaries for next year when the Over 30s seek revenge!
