Crewe and Nantwich 1st XV Men and Women Kick Off Their Campaign For League Victory This Weekend!

2 weeks ago By Steve Holding

1st XV will kick off their this Saturday in their clash against Walsall RUFC, followed by the Ladies who are set to play Kendal RUFC on Sunday!

Both Crewe and Nantwich sides will be pushing hard for promotion this season and intend to get things off to a strong start with victories under their belts!

Play has already resumed at Vagrants Park, with a hard fought 14-24 defeat by Crewe and Nantwich RUFC Men’s 2s; which saw the excellent debuts of three colts; against Liverpool Collegiate 2s, and a convincing win by Crewe and Nantwich 3s against Macclesfield 4s. Both the 2s and 3s side will be playing at home again this Saturday so please come and show your support!

Mini and Juniors training also resumed on Sunday, which saw an excellent turn out for the thriving section, having once put the now Sales Sharks and England players Tom and Ben Curry, through it’s ranks. The club will also see the debut of the newly formed Junior Colts side against Bolton on Sunday and as always Crewe and Nantwich continues to welcome all new players from the age of 5 upwards! More details on all training times, matches and contact details can be found here http://www.cnrugby.uk/contact/

Nicola Joyce Comments: “ It’s was great to get play underway again at Vagrants Park this weekend, we had mixed results but positive performances from both sides with more colts making debuts which is what we are all about! This week was also very special for the club as we celebrated last seasons Ladies Captain, Mollie Lathem, win the Player of The Year at the national rugby awards in Twickenham - beating 400 other applicants, many from the Premiership! We are incredibly proud of her and everything she does for the club! This is a great omen to start the season and we can’t wait for the first xv, Ladies and Junior Colts to kick off their season this weekend too!”
