New Chapter in Clubs History as New Land Officially Opens on the 20th September 2015

After many years of fundraising and hard work by officials, supporters and players old and new, Crewe & Nantwich RUFC are happy to announce that the new land will officially open on the Sunday 20th September 2015 at 10.30am. Followed by the inaugural game on the new pitch between Crewe and Nantwich Under 15’s and close neighbours Newcastle.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 10.30am with local MP Edward Timpson, representatives from Cheshire RFU and Crewe & Nantwich RUFC, as well as Sharky from Sale Sharks.

With a thriving club boasting 4 Senior teams, Ladies team and a Mini & Junior Section of over 275 children, the need for more land was long overdue. With the new land the club has added another full size pitch, three pitches suitable for mini rugby as well as other training areas!

The new land couldn’t come at a better time with the Rugby World Cup starting in England and Wales on the 18th September 2015. The profile of the game will be enhanced during this tournament, and the new land will enable the club to grow with an expected increase in player numbers.

Club Chairman, Allan Sproston said “ It’s taken a lot of hard work over many years to get to this great day, I’d like to thank Sport England, the RFU, Nantwich Town Council and Club benefactors for making this possible”.

He also paid thanks to club stalwarts “Facilities Director, Craig Randles as well other club officials have worked tirelessly over the years to get funding and permissions in place in order to complete this project.

Mini & Junior Chairman, Nick Price said “Our thanks go out to all at Brine Leas High School for the use of their land over the years but this new land will enable the mini section to now come home and train at the club on Sunday mornings.”

Crewe & Nantwich RUFC are always looking for new players of all ages, as well as supporters and sponsors, please visit www.cnrugby.uk for contact details.
