India and Georgie Perris-Redding represented England Mixed U18’s at Junior Touch Championships and George Price the Northwest Blades in the Nationals

Over the last few years Georgie and India have transferred their prodigious sporting prowess into Touch and come away with the honour of representing their Country in the inaugural Touch Championships where they played Wales, Ireland, Scotland, France and the Middle East. In the group stages played throughout the Saturday and Sunday morning they won each of their games against the other teams in a ‘round-robin’ style format with the exception of the eventual winners Wales, who they went on to face in the Grand Final on the Sunday afternoon. Between the two of them they scored 6 or 7 Touchdowns and describe the experience as “a great experience” and “a real test of their Touch skills”. As a reward for her efforts Georgie also won the MVP for her play in the Semi Final. We are so proud of their achievements.

Meanwhile the Blaze are also proud of the achievements of George Price, who consistently improved with each Touch outing for the National DTS team this summer. His achievements were recognised and George went on to represent the ‘Northwest Blades’ Regional side in this year’s Nationals held over the weekend of the 8th and 9th August in Cambridge.

During the course of the weekend the ‘Blades’ played the likes of the Midland Tigers, West Wildcats, South West Saxon, South East Taipans, South East Sharks and the UAE (Invitational) in a grueling series of games with #GorgeousGeorge crossing the whitewash for 5 scores in total. The team only lost to the two eventual finalists the Sharks and Taipans with the Taipans running out overall winners. This step up from club Touch to the National Regional finals is described by George as “The pace of the game is something you can't quite grasp until you have played it at that level, I am still looking back on it thinking how we ever defended a single attack it was so quick! Incredible experience I am hoping to build on now though!!”

Keep up the good work George, we have every confidence in you going forward.
