Great days are made like this

Crewe & Nantwich Senior Academy Colts and their supporters had a short turnaround before the second match of their 2022 Tour of Italy.
After enjoying the hospitality that followed our opening game, the majority of Tourists headed back to the hotel, though some still saw light in the day and headed into town in search of pizza.
The next morning saw the Tourists visiting Treviso, enjoying a coffee in the town square and appreciating its architecture and culture before a pre match lunch at a local restaurant.
After an hour and half coach trip, the Tourists arrived at Stadio Angelo Gobbato, the home of Rangers Rugby Vicenza. After the grandeur of the first day, the reality of the Junior section of a busy local club that play on two hard, dusty pitches came as a bit of a shock. The shock was short lived though, as the game had been moved to the BPVI Arena, home of the Rangers Rugby Vicenza senior team.
Rangers Rugby Vicenza play in the Serie A, the second tier of domestic Rugby in Italy. Once again, the Tourists were warmly welcomed and prepared on a well-cared for pitch under blue skies.
From the kick off, it was obvious that C&N has acclimatised well in the 30 hours since arriving in Italy and they quickly started to get to grips with the hosts. The first score did not go the C&N way though, as Rangers Rugby made ground and had a great position five metres out from the C&N line. A pick and go up the blindside saw them over the line to lead by five.
A penalty for Logan Lynch bought C&N within two and shortly after the Tourists took the lead as Josh Sourbutts returned the pick and go favour to power over.
The C&N forwards then put the pressure on Rangers Rugby, keeping them in their own half of the pitch and struggling to escape. The pressure soon paid, as C&N were given two penalties that Logan took advantage of.
As the sun started to set, the game moved into the hands of the backs who took advantage of the great surface to setup a ruck not far out. Once again, Josh was in the right place and with support from the forwards went over the line. Soon after, Jacob Ashton O’Donovan was on the end of a great outside break to get over and put the game beyond doubt.
Rangers Rugby kept up the pressure to the end though, the final two minutes seemed to use a roman calendar to count down as the hosts tried to break the C&N defence but that was not going to happen. A final knock on bought proceeding to a close, with a 5 – 24 scoreline due deserves for great performance.
The after-game hospitality was again an evening to be remembered. Once the coaches from both sides had shared homemade Prosecco and Salami, all the players and supporters then joined together for a meal in the Junior section club house. Shirts, Ties and Plaques were again exchanged, with speeches of thanks.
The night then continued with Rangers Rugby the guests of the C&N Tourists at their Tour Court. A night that will go down as legendary, but what goes on tour stays on tour, so nothing else to say.
