Conditions were appalling a driving rain and bitingly cold wind making it difficult for both players and spectators alike.
As the previous week Crewe were again put under pressure from the kick off, this time conceding a try by the visiting centre converted by the fly half 0-7. Gradually Crewe started to claw their way back after this early set back and were soon rewarded by another try from talisman hooker
Eli Woodward conversion missed 5-7. This was quickly followed up by another try from
Woodward who seems to relish these conditions kick again missed, the normally reliable Creighton struggling in the poor conditions.
Much of the game was now played in the half way area with the sides cancelling each other out, both struggling in the terrible weather, however
Creighton managed to create some space for wing
Tom Vanstone to go over in the corner this time well converted by
Creighton making the half time score 17-7 .
Again Veseyans scored first in the second half this time from a penalty from a ruck infringement 17-10. Again the sides were hampered by the weather making any cohesive rugby nigh on impossible and it was left to hooker
Woodward to complete his hat trick and with it give Crewe a well deserved bonus point victory.
After a difficult start to the season Crewe have settled, and are gelling well as a team and squad and introducing some talented young colts along the way, a tribute to all the hard work of head coach
John Farr and team manager
Dan Potts, and can look forward to continuing this rich vein of form into the new year.
