The game started badly for Crewe, turnover ball from the kick off and a series of drives from the Collegiate pack allowing there flyhaif to cross unopposed kick missed 0-5 , 3mins.

Collegiates big pack were controlling the set pieces , forcing Crewe to defend for long periods , however there line held and eventually they turned over an attack, a length of the field move was halted yards from the Collegiate line, disappointingly the resulting scrum was turned over .The ball was quickly moved through hands deep into the Crewe half, and again the Collegiate pack set up good position for their chunky centre to crash over under the posts 0-12 ,35mins .No further score before half time. Subs Robbo for Fenney in centre New for Horton in 2nd row

A good turnover from Eddie Cooper from kick off gave Crewe a series of attacks in the Collegiate 22, which eventually resulted in a penalty at the breakdown for which the away sides prop received a 10 minute breather for foul play.Crewe opted for a scrum, but perhaps took the wrong option from this and the ball was turned over. However soon after fullback Charlie Hutchins fielded a clearance kick , drew his man and fed winger Harry Price who broke 2 tackles and sped under the posts from halfway 7-12 ,47 mins .

Crewe were back in the game now and pressing hard but were pegged back by a breakaway try from the Collegiate wing restoring a 2 score lead kick missed 7-17, 58 mins.
Crewe now made there final change bringing on Henry Nash at hooker for Jono Hemmings and moving Chris Sproston to prop.
Against a tiring pack Crewe now enjoyed some good ball and were camped in the Collegiate 22 but again momentum was disrupted by another breakaway try from the away winger 7- 24 , 68 mins. The game then went a bit scrappy as both sides tired but was lit up by a cheeky breakaway try from skipper Tom Vanstome with a 60 metre burst 14-24 , 74 mins.No further score .

Disappointing result but plenty of positives to take from game not least the solid debuts of the 3 colts and Richard New it being the laters first game for a couple of years
